SAFR Sports Announces Tim Bream as Newest Member of Medical Advisory Board

SAFR Sports, a leading innovator in sports safety technology, is proud to announce the appointment of Tim Bream, MS, ATC, to its Medical Advisory Board.

Bream brings more than four decades of athletic training and sports medicine experience at the highest levels of competition, spanning the NFL, collegiate athletics, professional football leagues, and the Olympic Games. He currently serves as the Director of Athletic Training Services for the United Football League, where he oversees the health and performance of elite athletes across the league.

Bream has also served as a consultant with the Aviv Brain Health and Performance Clinic in The Villages, FL, and formerly held the role of Director of Health and Safety for SAFR Sports Technologies. In that capacity, Bream was directly involved in the testing, development, and implementation of SAFR’s flagship helmet cover technology. His insight and field-level perspective helped shape product innovation and safety protocols that are in use today.

“Tim has a deep, working knowledge of SAFR’s mission and products because he’s already been a vital part of our journey. His previous contributions as Director of Health and Safety were instrumental in ensuring our technology met the highest standards of performance and protection. We’re thrilled to officially welcome him back in an advisory role.”

John Zeglinski, SAFR CEO

Bream’s distinguished career includes tenures as Head Athletic Trainer for the XFL’s Washington DC franchise and the USFL’s Michigan team. Prior to that, he served as Director of Sports Medicine at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and spent six years at his alma mater, Penn State, as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training Services and Head Football Athletic Trainer.

His long-standing impact on athlete health is perhaps most notable from his 23-year career with the Chicago Bears, where he served as Head Athletic Trainer from 1997 to 2015. His earlier career includes leadership roles at the University of Richmond, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, and West Virginia University.

Bream holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in athletic training, and a master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Science from West Virginia University. He has also contributed his expertise to the United States Olympic Committee, including service at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France.

“I’ve had the unique opportunity to see SAFR’s technology evolve from the inside, and I truly believe in its potential to make a measurable difference in athlete safety. I’m excited to rejoin the team in an advisory capacity and continue contributing to solutions that help reduce head injuries and protect players at every level of the game.”
