But it’s also a game where the risks can add up quietly, especially when we’re talking about kids. Repeated hits to the head, even the ones that don’t seem like much, can have consequences that show up years later. Even decades. That’s hard to admit and even harder to ignore.
Recent research, headlines and warnings from the NFL, medical journals and parent groups all point to the same thing: brain trauma doesn’t begin in college or in the pros, it starts as early as youth football.
And no, it’s not about pulling kids off the field. Not at all. It’s about keeping them on it, safely.
Maybe you’re a parent or a former athlete who remembers those helmet-on-helmet drills that left your ears ringing.
