Chester Springs, PA, November 9, 2022 – New York’s Bravest, a semi-pro football team comprised of members of the New York City Fire Department, has partnered with SAFR Sports in its effort to create the safest football environment for every player. Next season, New York’s Bravest will wear a SAFR ProTech helmet cover, which is scientifically proven to reduce concussive impacts by as much as 72%.
Recent data from a three-year independent study at a major university in Pennsylvania showed the effectiveness of wearing ProTechs, and the results have been published in scientific journals, including the Journal of Concussion.
Funding for SAFR ProTechs has been provided by retired Fire Chief John Regan. “Anything I can do to make our men safer in whatever they do is worth it, whether it’s saving lives in our city or competing on the playing field,” said Regan, who is giving back to his community as a SAFR Hero.
“Playing football safely is our number one priority, and protecting the head is vital to that effort,” said Bravest Team President Steve Orr.“ Everyone on the FDNY Football team has to get up the next morning and perform our job at the highest level – and no one wants to worry about whether he’s able to think straight after playing a game.”
“At SAFR, we are continually pursuing new ways to improve sports safety through science, and we credit New York’s Bravest for taking this important step to protect their men,” said SAFR Sports CEO John Zeglinski. Zeglinski will be featured at this year’s National Public Safety Football League conference in Nashville on November 10th, sharing how SAFR Sports is making football safer through science.
About SAFR Sports
SAFR Sports is staffed by former football players and professionals, all who share the singular mission of making football and all contact sports safer through science. SAFR’s ProTech helmet cover, worn by nearly 300 college teams, high schools, and youth football leagues, has been proven to reduce impact accelerations that reduce the adverse effects of repeated sub-concussive blows. Other important advantages of the ProTech include being permitted for game-play by the National Federation of High Schools. In addition, the ProTech is custom-manufactured to model and size, and will match the color and finish of existing helmets.
